ether-wake

Magic Wake-On-LAN packet from CentOS

To send the magic wake-on-lan packet from CentOS there are a few options, but I think the ether-wake command is easiest, and is included in the net-tools package.

Install net-tools package if it’s not already installed

rpm -qa | grep net-tools; if [ $? -ne 0 ] ; then yum -y install net-tools; fi

Use ether-wake command to wake up sleeping Wake On LAN device

Just ether-wake, the local interface and the MAC address of the WOL nic. The MAC address 00:00:00:00:00:00 is used as an example here.

ether-wake -i eth0 00:00:00:00:00:00
